The Lantern House is a website template for a boutique hotel: the house first, then the rooms as pages, then the city around it, and a booking that is a conversation by email or WhatsApp with no calendar and nothing stored. The demo is a nine-room hotel in a restored machiya townhouse in Kyoto with a moss garden in the middle, photographed in soft natural light.

The home page opens on the inner garden at dusk behind a paper screen that slides open, with the name and one line, then a welcome with a portrait of the hosts, the nine rooms as a mixed-size grid with the price per night and a second photograph on hover, a full-width photograph of the garden in rain, breakfast in three photographs, three guest words, six places within ten minutes on foot and the address with a map. Rooms lists the nine and gives each a page with a five-photograph gallery, the size, the view, the bed, the bath, what is in the room and a Book button that opens an email with dates, guests and the room laid out. The house tells the restoration in six photographs with an alternating layout, the hosts, the kitchen and the garden through the seasons. Kyoto holds six short guides with a photograph and four paragraphs each. Journal has four dated entries. Contact gives the address and map, directions from the station in three lines, phone, email, WhatsApp and the check-in and check-out times.
